Sensex, Nifty slip into red; Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma top losers

Trimming all the early gains, Indian benchmarks slipped into negative terrain during the noon trading session amid profit booking in IT, Teck and telecom stocks. Investors were cautious ahead of Q3 results by Infosys to released later in the day after the country's largest IT firm TCS posted a 3.9 per cent drop in profit and a 2.7 per cent increase in revenue for the October-December quarter.

At 13:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 34467.56 down by 35.93 points or by 0.1 per cent, while the NSE Nifty was at 10629.85 down by -21.35 points or by 0.2 per cent.

Sensex touched intraday high of 34638.42 and intraday low of 34342.16 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 10690.25 and intraday low of 10597.1.

The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 312.60,+1.02%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1756.00,+0.87%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 9413.80,+0.77%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 944.05,+0.73%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1708.60,+0.59%), among others.

The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 506.85,-1.53%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd. (Rs. 419.35,-1.34%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 1362.35,-1.21%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 581.40,-1.19%), Bajaj Auto Ltd. (Rs. 3166.00,-1.12%), among others.

Among the sectors, Oil&Gas index was at 16280.58 up by 29.52 points or by 0.18%. Petronet LNG Ltd. (Rs. 251.70,+0.84%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 944.05,+0.73%), Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 390.00,+0.39%), Indraprastha Gas Ltd. (Rs. 323.35,+0.33%), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 422.10,+0.30%),.

On the flip side, Realty index was at 2757.26 down by -47.33 points or by -1.69%. Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 533.40,-3.60%), Phoenix Mills Ltd. (Rs. 595.25,-2.19%), Unitech Ltd. (Rs. 9.59,-2.04%), Sobha Ltd. (Rs. 593.50,-1.78%), Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd. (Rs. 63.50,-1.70%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3063 , shares advanced were 1141 while 1776 shares declined and 146 were unchanged.
